The New York Knicks are hoping to end their mini-losing skid after dropping back to back games against the Los Angeles Clippers and the Charlotte Hornets. For tonight’s game against the Oklahoma City Thunder, expect forward Carmelo Anthony to play despite soreness in his left knee.
Against the Hornets, the Knicks seemed to lose focus and momentum in the 2nd end of a back to back game.
“We just weren’t playing with enough energy,” Head Coach Derrick Fisher said. “We looked just completely worn down and worn out. We could not continue to bring enough energy to the game to have a chance. We just got some guys out there in the fourth quarter just to try to play hard and not really worry about the score.”
Tonight they face a Thunder squad that are coming off a 10 point upset loss to the Brooklyn Nets and Fisher is trying hard to get his team back to .500 ball.
“How do you get to a point where you can break (past .500)?” coach Fisher said. “It requires more sacrifice, more discipline, more commitment and more energy. We have to keep plugging until we find a way.”
They begin plugging away on the Thunder tonight at 6:30. Plenty of great seats and affordable tickets are still available so be sure to get yours today and help cheer on your New York Knicks!
The New York Knicks open the regular season on the road tomorrow evening against the Milwaukee Bucks and the focus for the season should be defense and the establishment of a normal rotation and stay away from the “small ball” (two point guards alongside Anthony) that dominated much of last season whether due to injury or necessity.
The fact that the team is much deeper this season and, with an attempt to keep Carmelo Anthony’s minutes down, this roster of savvy veterans and youth looks to make the playoffs and predictions for the Knicks to make the playoffs have been echoed from pundit to pundit.
“We have a deeper roster now,” Anthony said. “Whereas before, I think that was kind of my problem in the past, that I was afraid to take a game here or take a game there, thinking I had to do it all myself and we’re not in that position anymore,” he said.
“The Knicks are one of my sleeper teams,” Barkley, a TNT analyst, said during a conference call Monday to preview the season. “I think Phil Jackson’s done a good job getting quality NBA players. …. I’m picking the Knicks to make the playoffs. I’m guaranteeing it!”

With a 5-35 record thus far this season, the New York Knicks players and management know that the fight has been beaten out of the team and the dreaded “R” word is now not so frowned upon.
“We’re obviously at the beginning of a major transition of redefining New York Knicks basketball,” Knicks coach Derek Fisher said. “And so, the patience has to stay there at all times.”
Carmelo Anthony knows that he is probably the only one not trade-able on the team, but that does not necessarily mean that he doesn’t want to explore the possibilities..or at least work his way out of his no-trade clause.
“Come on, man. After all the work I did to get here and get back here? If I was to get up and want to leave now that would just make me weak, make me have a weak mind,” Anthony said in December 2014. “I’ve never been a person to try to run from any adversity or anything like that so I’m not going to pick today to do that.”
So, why not get out and help Melo and the New York Knicks as they face the Milwaukee Bucks tonight. Plenty of great seats and affordable tickets are still available so be sure to get yours today!
