Marbury scored 41 points in the fifth game of the Chinese Basketball Association finals Friday night to help lead the Beijing Ducks to their first league title. Marbury scored 53 points in Game 3 of the finals and 52 points in Game 2, each a victory.
It was the first professional title for Marbury, 35, who spent 13 seasons in the N.B.A. In his final stop, Marbury was a nonfactor for the Boston Celtics, a team he joined after being told to stay home rather than sit on the bench for the Knicks.
After finally finding success with his third team in China, Marbury is unlikely to leave for the N.B.A. and even less likely to play for the Knicks. Still, the timing of his career resurgence is made all the more intriguing by the state of his former team.
